World Water Day 2024 Celebrating a Year’s Partnership with Made Blue

This World Water Day we are delighted to be celebrating a years partnership with Made Blue. For the past year we have been committed to making a difference through our partnership with Made Blue, an entrepreneurial charity who formed in 2014, and who help to raise donations and support projects which provide clean water to those who desperately need it in developing countries.

Water is such a fundamental resource and a basic need for humans, yet even today in 2024, there are many millions of people who don’t have access to clean drinking water, hard to believe when many of us can drink clean water whenever we want. It’s estimated that 485,000 people die each year due to polluted and dirty water and shockingly only 1 in 10 people have access to clean water.

We are proud to be a part of such a worthwhile charity and be doing our bit alongside our distributors to try and make an impact through the Made Blue foundation. In this article we’ll tell you about the impact we’ve made during our first year and how distributors can get involved and support this hugely worthy cause.

Partnering with our Made Blue distributors to deliver clean water for those in need.

Over the past year, in collaboration with our Made Blue distributors, we’re contributed to providing over 2.5 million litres of clean and safe drinking water to people in countries where it’s not readily available and urgently needed. To put it in perspective, that’s the equivalent of a full Olympic sized swimming pool! These contributions support various initiatives, including the construction of filtration systems and water tanks for example, enabling communities to have access to clean water without enduring the hardship of travelling miles to get it, or risk consuming contaminated water from streams. By helping to provide clean water, we’re not only keeping people hydrated but also mitigating the risk of illnesses associated with unclean water.

We have seen a great uptake in the number of distributors partnering with us to join Made Blue over the past 12 months and we’d like to say a massive thank you for the difference they have each made towards helping to make a difference to so many people’s lives, by simply providing them with clean water. Every small donation makes a big impact.

How can you get involved?

As a distributor, you can sign up to Made Blue with us and match our £2.75/€3.30 donation, a combined total of £5.50/€6.65 per water dispenser ordered. It’s the equivalent to 19,000 litres of clean drinking water per water dispenser (based on the first five years usage), meaning each glass of water poured from the dispenser is matched with a glass of clean water for someone in need. For the price of a cup of coffee you can support your customers in making a difference.

Seeing the impact of Made Blue first hand.

In October, our marketing manager Sally made the trip over to Uganda with Made Blue to see firsthand the projects that the donations have gone towards and the difference it has made to people’s lives. One such project being a school where pupils and the local community used to drink from a dirty stream. With support from Made Blue and their partners, the school now has a filter system and water tank, with readily available clean water, which has completely changed the lives of the everybody community. No longer do they have to trek for miles to access water, which could take hours. This has given children back time, which can now be put to better use like being educated at school.

Water is a basic life necessity, yet not everyone has access to clean water to drink and wash with, it is heart-breaking. However, it was fantastic to see just how the contributions to the Made Blue Foundation are being put to use and supporting communities by providing clean water sources.
