Borg & Overström: Reflecting on the events of 2023 

It’s been a very busy year for Borg & Overström, culminating in significant development and advancement across our product range. 2023 saw the launch of new and innovative designs, including the debut of our first patented technology, SensorBeam® – and the launch of our E-series water dispensers. 

As we conclude the past twelve months and gear up for a promising 2024, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued support. We look forward to the year ahead and continued shared success. 

Evolution of our product range 

2023 was the year that saw the introduction of the environmentally focused E-series water dispenser range. Compromising of the E4, E6, E6 Chilled Only and E7, the E-series is the result of our commitment to becoming a more sustainable UK manufacturer and the outcome of a dedicated 5 year effort to reduce our carbon footprint by moving our full product range to nearshore manufacture. Replacing trusted models like the B4 water cooler, the E-series upgrade is an essential part of our move to offer a modular ProCore^® system across our complete range, offering greater familiarity, ease and efficiency to our distributors.  

Award winning innovations 

SensorBeam^® shines bright as a beacon in the year, not only receiving a patent for innovation, highlighting our enduring commitment to industry leading technology, but also winning an industry award for innovation. SensorBeam^® was recognised by the judges at the recent Global Water Drinks Awards, hosted by Zenith at Gleneagles, Scotland, where we were delighted to take home the award for ‘Best Dispense Innovation’. The beautiful illuminations have drawn crowds and interest since launched at NAMA, Atlanta back in May and offers a futuristic, magical experience for pouring water, enjoyed by all who have used it. 

Rounding out the year was the addition of measured dispense on the E6 and the introduction of the MonoFit^™ font for our T2 and T3 drinking water taps. The first of its kind on the market, MonoFit^™, reduces worksurface cutting my 90% making it quicker and easier to install or upgrade integrated tap systems. 

Redefining drinking water dispensing  

2023 has seen a significant growth in taps, which we’ve seen broadly across the water dispense market as well as with our own tap sales, which have seen an increase of 37% as our distributors increasingly embrace this contemporary model for filtered water dispense.  

Going green, virtually 

Being a responsible manufacturer is core to our values. On analysis, travel contributed over 70% of our carbon emissions. To tackle this, we introduced our state-of-the-art virtual showroom, which provides an amazing virtual experience without the need for travel, vastly reducing carbon footprint for both our distributors and our sales team. It allows easy, global access to our products and training and gives us the ability to connect with more distributors, helping them and us to achieve our goals, with less impact on the planet. 

Faster, quicker, happier. 

2023 saw a focus on strengthening customer support with our dedicated customer experience team, reducing enquiry wait time to under 30 minutes, with the majority of cases achieving first touch resolution as we strive to provide an unmatched, first-class service to our customers. This, coupled with a significant reduction of lead time for products, to an average of 1 week, is part of our commitment to provide a fast and reliable service to our customers. 

Giving back, glass by glass  

This year, Borg & Overström were proud to announce a partnership with the Made Blue Foundation, in an effort to provide clean water to those most in need. By giving back glass by glass with each dispenser, for as little as a cup of coffee, Borg & Overstrom, our distributors and their customers can all make steps towards their own ESG goals by simply selecting a Borg & Overstrom. Marketing Manager Sally, visited Uganda in October to witness first-hand the difference Made Blue donations make by providing access to clean drinking water in local communities.
